Bring your saved Individu context into Claude or another compatible AI app. Connect once, choose the permissions, and keep control of access from your Individu settings.

## 1. Your Individu MCP connection

**Server URL:** https://individu.ai/api/mcp

This is a hosted, read-only MCP server using Streamable HTTP. You sign in with your Individu account and explicitly approve the requesting app. You do not need to paste an Individu password, integration token or API key into the AI app. Account access uses OAuth with PKCE and short-lived access tokens.

## 2. Set up Claude

- Open Claude’s **Settings → Connectors**.
- Choose **Add custom connector**, enter **Individu** as the name, and paste the server URL above.
- Start the connection and sign in to Individu when prompted.
- Check the app name and Individu account on the permission screen, then choose **Allow read access**.
- Enable the connector in the conversation where you want to use it.

Availability and organization permissions depend on your Claude account. An organization administrator may need to enable custom connectors. If Claude asks for a client ID and secret, leave optional credentials empty and use the automatic OAuth flow. Consult [Claude’s custom connector guide](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) for its current setup options.

## 3. What your AI app can read

The initial release provides six tools, scoped to the Individu account that approved the connection.

- **list_conversations:** titles and metadata for your saved Individu conversations.
- **read_conversation:** recent text from a selected conversation.
- **list_files:** metadata from your Individu file library.
- **read_note:** the text of a saved note.
- **list_tasks:** your tasks and their completion status.
- **list_automations:** saved automation definitions and enabled status.

For example, ask “Find my recent property conversations in Individu and summarize the next steps” or “Which follow-ups are still open in my Individu tasks?” The connector can only return content already saved in Individu. It does not directly search your live Gmail or WhatsApp inbox.

## 4. Permissions and privacy

The data permission is **individu:read**. The requesting app may also request identity scopes and **offline_access** to keep the connection authorized between sessions.

MCP cannot send messages, edit files, run automations or retrieve integration credentials. File metadata does not include private download capabilities. Conversation reads return text content rather than executable tool calls or authentication state. Read access can still disclose personal or client information in the saved content, so approve only apps you trust.

Individu’s AI no-training controls do not control what a separate AI app does with content it retrieves. Its own privacy terms apply. See our [privacy policy](/privacy) and [provider register](/subprocessors).

## 5. Remove access

Open [Settings → AI connections](/settings#ai-connections), find the app, and choose **Remove access**. This blocks its existing access token on the next request and removes its refresh authorization. You can also disconnect the connector in the AI app. Revoking access cannot recall information already copied into an external app or conversation.

## 6. Other MCP clients

Use the same server URL in an MCP client that supports remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth discovery. Individu publishes standard protected-resource and authorization-server metadata. Clients can use supported client metadata documents or dynamic registration to begin the PKCE flow. The endpoint requires **individu:read** access to this specific resource.

The endpoint supports the 2025-11-25 protocol used by many existing clients alongside the installed SDK’s current protocol. It does not provide a local stdio server or a static API key. A browser visit to the endpoint alone does not open the connector because MCP requests use POST.

## 7. Troubleshooting

- **Connection failed:** check the complete server URL, then restart authentication from the AI app.
- **Access removed or expired:** reconnect and approve read access again.
- **No content returned:** check that you approved the right Individu account and have saved content of the requested type.
- **Permission unavailable:** ask your AI app’s administrator to enable custom connectors.
- **A live inbox is missing:** connect that app within Individu and save the relevant conversation or note first.

Connecting Monday.com or Granola inside Individu lets Individu use those services. Connecting to Individu from Claude gives Claude read access to the saved Individu content described here. These are separate connections with separate permissions.
